The Otto Specht School

I've worked at The Otto Specht School teaching pedagogical eurythmy as well as eurythmy therapy since 2014. The classes are small and the curriculum is created through an understanding of child development as well as individual needs and is based on the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner, who also created Waldorf education.

We meet the needs of our students who have developmental delays, social and sensory sensitivities, and learning challenges. They are guided through academic, artistic, practical and therapeutic activities including gardening, music, painting, handwork, eurythmy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, woodworking, cooking, metalworking and animal care. They are encouraged and supported to become the best version of themselves that they can be.

The children teach me every day. They teach me how to be vulnerable, empathetic, strong, calm, centered, and loving. They teach me how to create community and how to be human.
